At the Base Chapel

My wife, Anita and I went to the Chapel at Fairchild Air Force Base this morning and we found a painting Of mine entitled, “Passover Lamb”!
This piece was featured in last year’s Terrain 12 event and has now found a permanent home at Fairchild AFB Chapel! Thank you all for making this happen: Chaplain Bishop, Chaplain Ritter, Fairchild AFB Chapel, congregation and Chapel staff! #TeamFairchild #Terrain Spokane Arts #AdobeDraw

Mis Raíces

A while back I asked my wife Anita to dress up as Frida and pose for me so I could take some photos as a reference for a painting. This portrait is the result. I gave it to her for her birthday. She gave it the title, “Mis Raíces”.

Cuauhtémoc

El Último Tlatoani . . .

The Last Aztec Emperor . . .

Portrait of Cuauhtémoc by Antonio Romero

Cuauhtémoc also known as Cuauhtemotzín, Guatimozín or Guatémoc; c. 1495) was the Aztec ruler (tlatoani) of Tenochtitlan from 1520 to 1521, making him the last Aztec Emperor. The name Cuauhtémoc means “Descending Eagle” or “one who has descended like an eagle” (As it swoops down on its prey).

Reading the Word

I painted this portrait of my father-in-law, Chano De la Rosa (May he Rest In Peace) a few month ago, but I wanted to mention him this Father’s Day as a great example of a father, father-in-law, grandfather and a true man of God. It was a common sight to see him reading the Word of God. I know he is rejoicing now with our Heavenly Father!
“Like a father feels compassion for his children— that’s how the LORD feels compassion for those who honor him.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭103:13‬

Printmaking

Since I’ve made quite a few digital pieces that mimicked a linocut or woodcut effect, my daughter and son-in-law gave me a printmaking kit as a gift. So here’s my attempt at making a hummingbird print with it.

D-Day, 76 Years Later

Today, June 6th, 2020 is the 76th anniversary of D-Day. I painted this portrait last year of a WWII veteran that lives in Spokane. His name is Bill Butler. I spoke with his son today and he said his dad is doing well in spite of the pandemic.

Thank you, Bill and all those veterans that served with you. We owe you all a great debt. May the freedom you afforded us endure!
