This is the latest entry to my Snowman Series. It was named by my granddaughter Elia as, “Winter Bear”.
My painting of Emmett Kelly won First Place at the Spokane VA Creative Arts Festival this year! I just found out yesterday that it won third place at the National Competition!
I took a photo of a deer in my backyard a few years ago and had wanted to paint it for quite a while. Even though I mostly work in digital painting I chose to do this one on canvas. I finally got around to it this year and here is the result. This is my first painting of 2021.
I entitled it, “As The Deer Pants . . .” Because it reminds me of the scripture in Psalms that says,
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”Psalms 42:1
