My painting of Emmett Kelly won First Place at the Spokane VA Creative Arts Festival this year! I just found out yesterday that it won third place at the National Competition!
I took a photo of a deer in my backyard a few years ago and had wanted to paint it for quite a while. Even though I mostly work in digital painting I chose to do this one on canvas. I finally got around to it this year and here is the result. This is my first painting of 2021.
I entitled it, “As The Deer Pants . . .” Because it reminds me of the scripture in Psalms that says,
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”
Psalms 42:1
Fredric March as Mr. Hyde. Painted by Antonio Romero on an iPad Pro with Adobe Fresco.
