These monster portraits were done a few months ago for an art contest called, “Universal Monsters: Out of the Shadows” by Universal Pictures based on their famous monsters. I painted these with #AdobeSketch on an iPad Pro #Halloween2021 #universalmonsters
Feliz Dieciséis de Septiembre! Happy 16th of September (Mexican Independence Day)!
Today is the 211th Anniversary of Mexican Independence from Spain on the 16th of September, 1810. Below are portraits of two of the most prominent heroes of that era of Mexican history.
Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla
This is a portrait I made of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, (Also known As El Padre De La Patria “The Father of The Fatherland”) leader of the Mexican war of independence.
José María Morelos y Pavón (September 30, 1765 – December 22, 1815) was a Mexican Roman Catholic priest and revolutionary rebel leader who led the Mexican War of Independence movement, assuming its leadership after the execution of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in 1811.

I had the privilege of doing a digital art demo to some of the members of River Ridge Association of Fine Arts in Spokane, Washington. Working on this piece was part of the demo.
Feliz Cinco De Mayo! To celebrate, I painted this portrait of General Ignacio Zaragoza in 2020. He was the hero of the battle of Puebla, Also Known As Cinco De Mayo.
As The Deer Pants . . Acrylic On Canvas, 24” X 30”
I took a photo of a deer in my backyard a few years ago and had wanted to paint it for quite a while. Even though I mostly work in digital painting I chose to do this one on canvas. I finally got around to it this year and here is the result. This is my first painting of 2021.
I entitled it, “As The Deer Pants . . .” Because it reminds me of the scripture in Psalms that says,
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”
