Happy Veteran’s Day

Thank You, Veterans!

Thank you to all those who have served this great nation of ours!

Those of you who have followed my work may already know that I have an ongoing tribute to veterans. I’ve painted portraits of several of our local veterans from the Korean War, Vietnam War and World War II (See portraits below). I planned on doing some more this year, to continue the series, but, the pandemic slowed things down in that regard. Nevertheless, I’d like to thank these veterans and all of the veterans of our military branches for their service and would like to say that I am personally grateful for the liberty their efforts have afforded us all as a people.

With gratitude,

Antonio Romero

Michael O’Flaherty
Jerry Hood
Madison Palmer Jr.
Bennett Traylor
William Butler

The portraits below were commissioned for a poster by the local VA equal opportunity department. The poster was to include veterans of Pacific Islander heritage. The veterans were all stationed at Fairchild AFB, WA

I Will Pass Over You . . .

“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.”

Inktober 2019

This was my first time participating and completing the Inktober challenge. It was fun to get back to pen and ink drawing since I work mostly with digital media nowadays. I have to say, the most difficult part was to stay on task every day of the month. On one occasion, I didn’t get the assignment done until 9 p.m.

My personal goal was not only to draw the assigned subject on the day prescribed, but to limit my drawings to 5 minutes or less (most were done in less than two minutes).

Clock Tower

I made this piece for my daughter and son-in-law to remind them of Spokane, Washington! Especially since they live so far away in New Hampshire.

I made this painting on my iPad – the line art with Adobe Draw and the watercolor was done with Adobe Sketch.
