“As The Deer Pants . . .”

As The Deer Pants . . Acrylic On Canvas, 24” X 30”

I took a photo of a deer in my backyard a few years ago and had wanted to paint it for quite a while. Even though I mostly work in digital painting I chose to do this one on canvas. I finally got around to it this year and here is the result. This is my first painting of 2021.

I entitled it, “As The Deer Pants . . .” Because it reminds me of the scripture in Psalms that says,

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”

Psalms 42:1

Finished this piece, “Nuthatch”, 11” X 14”.
I found this little guy carving out a nest in a dead tree in my back yard and decided to paint him.
